Recently I went to Ikea, I love the place! When I go it is a full day event and normal leaves my pockets empty! It is a brilliant shop for lots of craft items some of my favourites include box frames, ribbon and little glass jars (brilliant for decorating and filling with sweets!). On this visit I seen these little tin vases, they are everywhere on Pinterest. I picked up two of the smallest sizes (£2 each). I had no idea what I was going to make with them but I knew I needed them. After a few days I finally decided to make flowers for them. I made button flowers, the same as from our craft night. I added larger paper flowers and shredded green paper to make grass. To add the finishing touch I added ribbon, I posted them to my Facebook page and they sold almost instantly!

I am a sucker for quotes! I spend hours on Pinterest looking for inspiration and positive thoughts. I thought the quote I used to make this frame is perfect for bringing a smile to anyones face. I printed the quote on a 9×9″ card. I then began to layer up flowers, which I made using my Sizzix big shot. The butterflies have been made using a tonic studio paper punch. I always have a buttons in my craft room, I layered these onto the flowers to give them some extra dimension. I have this fame for sale on in my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/RibbonandPearlsCards.
I’ve been very quite on line all week, sorry! I have been busy making wedding invitations for a client, they turned out beautiful, theres no better feeling in the world than seeing a happy bride. I will put up pictures but I like to wait until all the invites have gone to the guests so I am afraid you will have to wait a few weeks! I made a few more mothers day cards and I have a few more requests to finish off. After this I think that will be the end of 2014’s Mothers Day season! I also decided this week to take my camera out, its been a while since I went somewhere just to take photos. The only problem was that it started to rain! (Typical Northern Ireland weather!). So my photography subject for the day was my dog, Jess, an english Springer Spaniel. x
Both of these cards are available to buy at my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/RibbonandPearlsCards
I’ve started to make my mother’s day cards before a mad last minute rush! I have quite a few orders in already to keep my busy. Here are my first few designs, there will be a lot more on the way!The feeling of Spring has me inspired! x
I was asked to make a card for a ‘sweet 16’ birthday. I knew this was the perfect opportunity to try a little bit of experimenting! I recently purchased a set of Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities ‘Labels four’. I used these dies with my Sizzix Big shot machine (although the largest die is too big). I love the shape and think there great for framing little messages etc. For this design I decided to make a gate fold card (my first attempt!). The patterned papers I have used came free with an old issue of ‘papercrafter’ magazine. I fell in love with the colours and the vintage look, I printed and cut out my message and stuck it to the front of the card using pin flair glue. The butter fly is a ‘sizzles butterfly #12’ die. I cut out 3 layers of pattern paper to add depth to the butterfly and finished it off with some pretty little peals! I used some shading on the front on the card using ‘Ink it up’ inks. Hope you like the final outcome!
The beutiful free pattern paper!
